What have we been up to?
We have continued with our high visibility patrols and community engagements. We have also been concentrating on our ward priorities, focusing on the hot spot areas to deter criminals and provide reassurance to residents Over the last quarter we have been concentrating on rolling out our new messaging platform MET ENGAGE, it’s an opportunity for you to tell us what’s concerning you most so we can take action on the things that matter to you. We have attended community events, such as Seething Wells Festival and Seething Wells Sports day, where by myself and Sergeant Alleyway took part in the three legged race and managed to scrape first place! Mini day was success with lots of families enjoying the celebrations. Mini day celebrates the Mini Cooper designed and built by John Cooper in Holyfield Road, Surbiton. This mini went on to win the Monte Carlo Rally in 1965. Kingston cycling campaign which started and ended at Fishponds Park was a success, security marking a total of 56 bikes!!!
WARD PRIORITIES
Theft from Motor Vehicle (TFMV)
We urge residents and their visitors to ensure vehicles are locked at all times, and to remove valuables from vehicles when unattended (Including in glove compartments and other recesses). Thieves are opportunists and will look for valuables in vehicles or try handles. Please make sure you are always locking your vehicles when left unattended.
Shoplifting
We have completed regular patrols of the high street, as part of these patrols, officers have attended venues that have been targeted more regularly to give crime prevention advice, view CCTV and give reassurance to staff.
Theft from a person
We have completed crime prevention events across the ward where personal secure shopping packs where distributed out to members of the public along with leaflets on how to keep valuables safe.
Please be vigilant, Look up and Look Out!
Be aware of your surroundings in busy shops as they are ideal places for pickpockets. It’s easier for them to brush past people, take items and blend into the crowd. When walking around, keep phones purses and wallets in zipped bag or in a front pocket Carry bags in front of you or diagonally across your chest Criminals use mopeds or bikes and e-scooters to snatch phones and other valuables, they may ride along the pavement or target you at pedestrian crossings. When walking face oncoming traffic – you will spot any bike leaving the road and approaching you.
